Our Location

Our Home: Christianshavn

Nestled in one of Copenhagen's most charming and historic neighborhoods, our studio sits in a building with over 400 years of stories to tell.

A Historic Gateway with a New Purpose

Our studio is located in one of Christianshavn's oldest buildings — a structure that dates back over 400 years. In centuries past, this very spot served as the gate to "Køb Haven," the Shopping Harbour that gave Copenhagen its name.

Today, this historic space has been thoughtfully transformed into a sanctuary for yoga, movement, and teacher training — honoring its past while serving a new generation of seekers.

"Køb Haven" — the old Danish name meaning "Merchant's Harbour" — is the origin of the word Copenhagen. Our building once stood at its entrance.

Christianshavn itself feels like a village within the city. Canals wind through cobblestone streets lined with colorful townhouses, independent cafes, and local shops. It's peaceful, picturesque, and just 10 minutes from the city center by bike or metro.

Hygge — The Art of Cozy Presence

Pronounced "hoo-gah"

Hygge is more than a word — it's a way of being. It's the warmth of candlelight on a winter evening, the comfort of a slow morning with coffee, the presence you feel when surrounded by good company. In Denmark, hygge isn't a trend — it's woven into everyday life.

Denmark consistently ranks among the happiest countries in the world, and hygge is often cited as a key reason why.

But Danish culture runs deeper than cozy aesthetics. It's built on trust, equality, and balance:

  • Trust-based society — leave your bike unlocked, your bag unattended
  • Work-life balance is sacred — evenings and weekends are protected
  • Egalitarian mindset — everyone is treated as equal
  • Slow living meets modern city — presence in everyday moments
Why This Matters for Your Practice

The principles of hygge — presence, warmth, intentionality — align beautifully with yoga philosophy. Training here means immersing yourself in a culture that already embodies mindfulness in daily life. It's not something you have to escape the city to find.

Plan Your Trip

Practical Information

Everything you need to know before you arrive. Copenhagen is one of the easiest cities in the world to navigate — here's how to make it seamless.

Best Time to Visit

April – September: Long days, warm weather, outdoor life in full swing. Perfect for exploring by bike.

January – March: Cozy winter training, hygge season. Fewer tourists, candlelit cafes, and a more intimate city experience.

Getting Here

Copenhagen Airport (CPH) is one of Europe's best-connected hubs. Direct flights from most European capitals, UK cities, and seasonal routes from North America. The airport is just 15 minutes from the city center by metro or train.

Getting Around: Bikes Are King

Copenhagen is built for cycling. Dedicated bike lanes, traffic lights for cyclists, and flat terrain make it the easiest (and most fun) way to get around. Renting a bike is simple and affordable — weekly and monthly rates are available, and many accommodations offer bikes too. The metro, buses, and S-trains are also excellent if you prefer public transport.

  • Donkey Republic (app-based rental)
  • Swapfiets (monthly subscription)
  • Copenhagen Bicycles
  • Hotel bike loans

Language

Danish is the official language, but everyone speaks fluent English. Denmark consistently ranks among the top countries in the world for English proficiency. You'll have no trouble communicating — in cafes, shops, on public transport, or anywhere else.

Currency & Payments

Denmark uses the Danish Krone (DKK), not the Euro. But don't worry about cash — cards are accepted everywhere, even for the smallest purchases. Many places are entirely cashless. Apple Pay and Google Pay work widely too.

Visa Requirements

EU/EEA citizens: No visa required — just bring your ID or passport.

US, UK, Canada, Australia: No visa needed for stays up to 90 days. Your training fits comfortably within tourist entry rules.

Accommodation

We're happy to help with recommendations for places to stay near the studio. Options range from budget-friendly hostels to cozy Airbnbs and boutique hotels in Christianshavn. Many of our students stay within walking or biking distance.

Have questions about planning your trip? We're here to help. Reach out anytime and we'll make sure you're prepared for your Copenhagen experience.
